Day 6, Tuesday May 17th, 2016

We left St Malo in the morning, and headed to Le Mont St Michelle. This involved a 2km walk along a causeway out to the popular attraction: a very old town and church built out on an island that can only be reached by a muddy strip of land at low tide.

Once out to the island, it was a long climb up to the church.

A very impressive structure built over several centuries.

The courtyards and chambers at the top of the structure were very impressive.

And the view to the surrounding countryside was spectacular.

On the way back down we stopped for flambé crepes.

After a bus ride back to the car park, we headed up to Normandy. Behind Utah Beach, we reached the airborne museum at St Mere Egliese. Lots to see here, including this Waco glider.

And a C47.

There was a well-done C47 simulation and plenty of equipment.

Lots of displays. A good museum.

We ended the day with our drive to Mas de Normande, where we'd stay for several days. We had a walk along Gold Beach and then had dinner down at Courselles sir Mer. Finally had a good night's sleep back at the caravan.
