Day 5, Monday May 16th, 2016

In the morning we took a cab over to the train station, where we picked up our rental. A Toyota.

Our travels today took us to Brittany in the western France. Beautiful countryside.

We stopped in Caen for lunch on the way there, were I tried Auge Valley Chicken for the first (but not the last!) time. Then we were off to Brittany proper, with the first stop in Dinan.

We visited the castle there, which is largely incorporated into the layout of the town.

Here you can see along the castle walls, with much of the old town now built up inside the walls to the right in this picture.

 A pretty place.

Then we were off to St Malo. Now today turned out to be some sort of national holiday, so St Malo was packed with people. We managed to make our way to the Oceana Hotel, which was right on the beach.

A great view from our room.

In the afternoon, we walked through the town and Kimberley got some shopping in. I also discovered that the local dishes are focused on crepes. Lots of crepes.

A walk around town led to more pretty views.

In the evening, we had seafood (which was only so-so because the restaurant was very touristy). But before that, we had a walk by the sea at low tide.

The fort that can only be reached at low tide.
